I have two kinds of IT products that I used to used and owned. One is mobile phone and tablet, and the other is laptop computer.
My first mobile phone is a Nokia brand which I can’t exactly remember the model and its released year. I was in the intensive course and had no job that time. So, I told my uncle that I wanted a mobile phone, any kind of any brand as long as I can make a call. So, on my birthday, my uncle and aunt bought me that Nokia phone. It was in red and grey. I did love it because during that intensive course, I could not go out often and have to communicate with my friends through phone calls. It was my best toy ever at that time. After the intensive course, that phone was still with me when I first joined the Assumption University at the end of 2009. I used it quite a while during my university before moving to Hong Kong after my first semester at ABAC.
Then I bought a new phone which was a Samsung brand. But I could not recall its model and other related features. But what I like from that phone is that I cannot only make calls, I can also listen to mp3 songs. It also can take a very low-resolution photos as well. I was still jobless and had no idea how to make money, I only live with scholarship money provided; therefore, I didn’t buy a better phone even though I wanted it. I used this Samsung phone for a few years. I didn’t do well for a few reasons in Hong Kong, and I demanded the scholarship provider that I want to go back to Thailand and study at Assumption University.
When I was in Hong Kong, I didn’t do well in class because I was trying to make money and learned a few things including stocks trading. I used to work night shift with DHL, but it only lasted a few days because I thought the pay is so low, and I thought I have been exploited. So, it forced me to try other ways of earning. So, finally I found a way of making some money. After coming back to Thailand, I can afford a better phone, so I bought a new phone, Samsung Galaxy S5 mini which I still used until now. I give my old phone to my brother but he didn’t even like it because it’s old model!
My first laptop computer was a Compaq laptop. I bought that one with the scholarship money before joining the Assumption University. It was the best laptop and it has given me many things. I earn with that, I play with that, I educate more with that. Since I used a lot of it, it stopped working when I return to ABAC from Hong Kong. I didn’t throw it away, I fixed it and let my brother used it. But now it is resting in peace, it cannot be used anymore.
After my Compaq laptop is not working properly, I decided to buy a Mac Book Pro 2012 version, that Compaq produced this Mac Book Pro because I used the money being generated from that Compaq laptop. At first, I just wanted to throw that Mac Book away. I cannot work on it at all. Some software which I usually used on Windows cannot be easily installed on Mac. I mean usually I used the pirated versions and I know how to deal with Windows. But when it comes to Mac, I had no idea. So I just put in Windows CD and install it to Mac, and then I cannot turn on my Mac. Finally I had to send back to the store and had to wait for a few weeks until it comes back. I really dislike that situation. But then now I understand how it works and I just can easily use it as if it is Windows.
My latest toy is iPad mini retina which I bought few weeks ago. They have some discount on Apple store for students and I decided to grab one, hoping I will read more. The reason is that I prefer reading on devices instead of printing. I feel sometimes printing everything is a waste of money and resources. But most people still prefer reading on papers and books though. Even the tutorials slides and other papers, I never print it out, I read on my laptop or mobile phone only.
These are my IT devices which I used to play with and My current IT devices. They are quite cool to play with in term of learning and educating for myself. I don't know for others, but for me it really helps a lot. And I love them all! ^_^
